EMAIL MARKETING IN ROCKHAMPTON
A list you own. Campaigns that actually sell. Revenue that does not depend on the algorithm.
THE PROBLEM
WHAT MOST ROCKHAMPTON BUSINESSES ARE DEALING WITH.
Every Rockhampton business owner I talk to is completely at the mercy of the Facebook and Instagram algorithm. One platform update and their reach drops 40%. Meanwhile, the businesses that built an email list during those same years still have a direct line to their customers that nobody can take away. Email marketing has the highest ROI of any digital channel — typically $36 back for every $1 spent — and most small businesses are not using it at all.
WHY IT MATTERS
WHY FIXING THIS MOVES THE NUMBERS.
- 01You own your email list. Instagram can suspend your account tomorrow. Nobody takes your list.
- 02Email drives more sales per subscriber than any social platform — people check email to buy, they check social to scroll.
- 03Automation sequences work around the clock — welcome series, abandoned cart, re-engagement — without you touching anything.
- 04A 2,000-person email list is worth more to a Rockhampton business than 20,000 Instagram followers.
- 05Every dollar spent on email marketing outperforms ads, SEO and social on average ROI.

Social Media Management in Rockhampton: What to Actually Expect
If you are paying $600 a month for 'social media management' and your phone is not ringing any more than it was a year ago, that is not a marketing expense. That is a leak. Here is what real social media management looks like, what it should cost in Rockhampton, and how to stop paying for the wrong thing.
Google Business Profile vs Website: Which Should You Build First?
Every month you spend agonising over 'website or Facebook page' is a month of searches ending with your competitors' phone numbers, not yours. Here is the order I tell new Rockhampton businesses to build things in, so you are visible in 30 minutes instead of 3 months.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS I GET ASKED.
Do I need an email list already?
No. Michael Evans Media builds the list from scratch — sign-up forms on your website, lead magnets on social, and a list-growth strategy as part of the setup. You can also import any existing contacts (old customer database, enquiry list) as a starting point.
Klaviyo or Mailchimp — which one?
Klaviyo is purpose-built for e-commerce — it integrates directly with Shopify and WooCommerce, tracks revenue per email and has better automation. Mailchimp is simpler and cheaper for service businesses with no online store. I will recommend the right one on the scoping call.
How often should I be emailing my list?
For most Rockhampton small businesses, once a month is the minimum. Once a fortnight is better. More than weekly is usually too much unless you are running a high-frequency e-commerce business. The standard plan includes one monthly newsletter — we can add more campaigns for product launches, sales or seasonal events.
What is the abandoned cart sequence and do I need it?
If you have an online store, yes, absolutely. Abandoned cart emails go to shoppers who added to cart but did not buy. A three-email sequence sent over 24 hours typically recovers 10 to 15% of those lost sales — on most stores that pays for the entire email marketing service in the first month.
What open rates should I expect?
A well-managed Rockhampton small business list typically gets 30 to 45% open rates on newsletters — well above the 20% industry average. The first email in a welcome series often hits 60%+. I track this every send and will tell you honestly if a list is underperforming and why.
Can you fix an existing email list that has poor deliverability?
Yes — deliverability issues (emails landing in spam, low open rates, high bounce rates) are usually fixable. I run a deliverability audit, clean the list, fix the domain authentication records and rebuild sending reputation over 4 to 8 weeks. Results are usually dramatic.
Do you write the emails or do I?
I write them. You see every email before it sends — you can edit, tweak or reject anything. Most clients make minor tweaks and get on with their day. If you want to write your own and just have me set up the platform and automations, I can do that too.
