E-COMMERCE STORE SETUP IN ROCKHAMPTON
Sell online. Get paid. Stop sending people to your competitors' websites.
THE PROBLEM
WHAT MOST ROCKHAMPTON BUSINESSES ARE DEALING WITH.
Half the Rockhampton businesses I speak to are still taking orders over the phone or through a Facebook DM and manually following up with bank transfers. It is costing them sales every single day — people bail when checkout is complicated, and a lot of them just buy from whoever has an actual buy button. Getting an online store set up is not as expensive or complicated as most small business owners think.
WHY IT MATTERS
WHY FIXING THIS MOVES THE NUMBERS.
- 01Customers expect to pay online. If you cannot do it, they find someone who can.
- 02A store that is open 24/7 takes orders while you sleep — no phone tag, no manual invoicing.
- 03Shopify and WooCommerce connect directly to your socials and Google Shopping ads so every product is discoverable.
- 04Abandoned cart emails alone typically recover 10–15% of sales that would otherwise be lost.
- 05One good product page ranks on Google for years and keeps bringing in buyers without ad spend.

How Much Does a Website Cost in Rockhampton? (2026 Guide)
Every week a Rockhampton business owner is quoted $500, $5,000 and $15,000 for the same website. One of those quotes is costing you leads right now. Here is what a website should actually cost in 2026, and what the cheap ones quietly cost you 12 months later.
Why Most Rockhampton Small Business Websites Fail (And How to Fix Yours)
If your website has not brought you a single enquiry this month, it is not decorative. It is a leak. Here are the seven problems I see on almost every Rockhampton small business site I audit, in the order they cost you the most money.
FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS I GET ASKED.
Shopify or WooCommerce — which one is right for me?
Shopify is easier to manage long-term and better for most product-based businesses — you pay a monthly platform fee but you never deal with hosting, updates or security. WooCommerce sits on WordPress and has lower ongoing costs but more maintenance. I will walk you through both on the scoping call and recommend based on your situation.
How much does Shopify cost per month?
Shopify Basic is $39 USD a month (about $60 AUD). That is paid directly to Shopify — not to me. Plus transaction fees unless you use Shopify Payments. My setup fee is a one-off on top of that. For most small businesses, the cost pays for itself with the first 10 extra online orders.
Can you set up Afterpay or Zip?
Yes. Both are straightforward to wire up on Shopify and WooCommerce. Most Rockhampton retail and product businesses should have them — they materially increase average order value.
How many products can you load?
The standard setup includes up to 50 products. If you have more, I quote an extra per-product rate. If you have hundreds of SKUs, I can set up the first 50 properly and show you how to bulk-upload the rest yourself, or quote a larger project.
Do I need a separate website as well as a store?
Not necessarily. Shopify can be your whole website — store, About page, Contact, blog. If you already have a website you love, I can build a Shopify store as a subdomain (shop.yoursite.com.au) that links seamlessly to your main site.
Can Michael Evans Media do ongoing e-commerce management?
Yes. Once the store is live, I can run email marketing, product photo shoots, Google Shopping ads and social content as separate services or roll them into a retainer. Most e-commerce clients start with the one-off setup and add email marketing within a few months.
Will the store show up on Google?
I set up basic SEO on every product and collection page as standard — meta titles, descriptions, clean URLs. For full Google Shopping feeds and product-focused SEO I would add that to the project scope. It is almost always worth it for product businesses.
